We are a small, family-run business that developed out of our curiosity and respect for honeybees and their role in nature.
The idea for Milton Honey Farm was born in 2015, when Ed Parsons decided to try his hand at Beekeeping. A friend had been keeping a couple colonies of bees on our property, and we discovered that our whole family loved learning about their care and habits. Not to mention, our friend always gifted us some of the delicious honey when he harvested it.
After studying the business, learning about the equipment and what it takes to care for the honey bees, Milton Honey Farm got under way with just a couple of hives and a simple goal: KEEP THE BEES ALIVE.
After a couple years of learning the business and learning how to organically expand the apiary, Milton Honey Farm started to grow. We learned how to cultivate a lot of bees very quickly, and the next goal was to build and buy the equipment to house the bees.
Over the past couple of years, our focus has shifted to honey production. Ed's wife Carter has also begun to use some of the honey to make beautiful soaps.
In 2019, our bees produced about 30 gallons of honey, which sold out by Thanksgiving. This year, we hope to produce more than 100 gallons. Please follow us on Facebook for the most up-to-date information on what we have to offer!
Ed became interested in the practice of beekeeping in 2014, when a friend asked to keep a few hives at his family's home on Redd Road in Milton, Georgia. Ed, his wife Carter, and their two children quickly grew to love having bees - and all the delicious honey they produce.
Now, Ed is a Georgia Certified Beekeeper who mentors several junior beekeepers in the area. He also volunteers for the Fulton County School Systems "Science Night," where he teaches elementary students about honey bees and their vital role in pollinating plants.
As his experience grows, Ed has now branched out into swarm removal services. Over the past few months he's been quite busy helping local residents with safe, environmentally friendly swarm removals!
Carter is a wife, mother, artist, graphic designer, jewelry maker, and the creative force behind all of our honey and beeswax products that the bees didn’t produce themselves!
In her own words, “As our honey production really began to ramp up, I saw an opportunity to expand our business to include natural soaps, lotions, lip balms and other products using the honey and beeswax our bees make. I really enjoy the creative process of making these luxurious beauty products by hand.
It’s also a perfect fit for me, as a graphic designer, to create all of our packaging, signage and marketing materials.
There’s so much to learn, and the projects seem endless. It’s a very exciting time for our family!”
